Finally, an example μCP is given to transfer titania precursor gel and produce TiO2 micropatterns on flexible polymer substrates. The SiOx/COP stamps and the μCP of TiO2 provide simple and cost-effective patterning techniques, which should contribute to the future design and creation of flexible devices.Guided Electrokinetic Assembly of Polystyrene Microbeads onto Photopatterned Irvine, 5200 Engineering Hall, Irvine, California 92627, United States200 Engineering Hall, Irvine, California 92697, United States.Assembly of microdevices from constituent parts currently relies on slow serial steps via direct assembly processes such as pick-and-place operations. Template Electrokinetic Assembly (TEA), a guided, noncontact assembly process, is presented in this work as a promising alternative to serial assembly processes. To characterize the process and its implementation of electrokinetic, dielectrophoretic, and electro-osmotic phenomena, we conducted studies to examine the assembly of polymer microparticles at specific locations on glassy carbon interdigitated electrode arrays (IDEAs).

The IDEAs are coated with a layer of lithographically patterned resist, so that when an AC electric field is applied to the IDEA, microparticles suspended in the aqueous solution are attracted to the open regions of the electrodes not covered by photoresist. Interplay between AC electro-osmosis and dielectrophoretic forces guides 1 and 5 μm diameter polystyrene beads to assemble in regions, or "wells", uncovered by photoresist atop the electrodes. Seebio Photobase Generator was discovered that AC electro-osmosis under an applied frequency of 1 kHz is sufficient to effectively agglomerate 1 μm beads in the wells, whereas a stepwise process involving the application of a 1 MHz signal, followed by a 1 kHz signal, is required for the positioning of 5 μm beads, which are mainly affected by dielectrophoretic forces. Permanent entrapment of the microparticles is then demonstrated via the electropolymerization process of the conducting polymer polypyrrole.Depletion of Kruppel-like factor 15 sensitized gliomas to temozolomide Nanjing University, Clinical Cancer Institute of Nanjing University, Nanjing, Temozolomide (TMZ)-based chemotherapy is a standard strategy for gliomas, although chemoresistance remains a major therapeutic challenge. The chemical mechanism by which TMZ induces cell death is DNA methylation, leading to double-stranded breaks (DSBs) and thus to apoptosis. However, TMZ-induced N6-meG sites are efficiently repaired and mediated by the DNA repair protein O 6-methylguanine-DNA methyl-transferase (MGMT), leading to TMZ resistance.

KLF15, a member of the Kruppel-like factors family, mainly functions as transcription factor and potential suppressor gene by inhibiting proliferation, migration, and inducing apoptosis. However, the roles and regulatory mechanisms of KLF15 in glioma tumorigenesis and chemoresistance are poorly understood. In Photoacid Generator , KLF15 expression was upregulated in glioma tissues and cell lines upon TMZ treatment. Knockdown of KLF15 amplified TMZ-induced repression of cell proliferation, while KLF15 overexpression reversed this process. Mechanistically, KLF15 functioned as a transcriptional activator of MGMT. Moreover, KLF15 knockdown sensitized tumors to TMZ treatment in vivo. Taken together, these results suggested that KLF15 up-regulated MGMT through direct binding to the promoter of MGMT, which plays an important role in glioma resistance to TMZ, and which may be a potential target for cancer diagnosis and Biomass-Derived Renewable Aromatics: Selective Routes and Outlook for p-Xylene Methylbenzenes are among the most important organic chemicals today and, among them, p-xylene deserves particular attention because of its production volume and its application in the manufacture of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

There is great interest in producing this commodity chemical more sustainably from biomass sources, particularly driven by manufacturers willing to produce more sustainable synthetic fibres and PET bottles for beverages. A renewable source for p-xylene would allow achieving this goal with minimal disruption to existing processes for PET production. Despite the fact that recently some routes to renewable p-xylene have been identified, there is no clear consensus on their feasibility or implications. We have critically reviewed the current state-of-the-art with focus on catalytic routes and possible outlook for commercialisation. Pathways to obtain p-xylene from a biomass-derived route include methanol-to-aromatics (MTA), ethanol dehydration, ethylene dimerization, furan cycloaddition or catalytic fast pyrolysis and hydrotreating of lignin. Some of the processes identified suggest near-future possibilities, but also more speculative or longer-term sources for synthesis of p-xylene are © 2016 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
